Patna, July 17 — Six people have been detained in connection with the murder of 36-year-old Chandan Mishra, a murder convict who was gunned down inside the ICU of a private hospital in Patna on Thursday morning.
Senior officials said all suspects involved in the killing have been identified, and multiple police teams are conducting raids in Patna and Buxar. Mishra, who was serving a sentence at Beur Jail, had been released on parole and was receiving treatment when five armed men stormed the hospital and shot him dead.
“Several teams have been formed to nab the accused. So far, six suspects have been detained in Patna and Buxar,” said Jitendra Rana, Inspector General (Central Range).
The assailants were captured on CCTV entering the hospital and opening fire. While the footage went viral on social media, police said they are verifying its authenticity.
Patna (Central) SP Diksha confirmed that Mishra had a long criminal history, with 24 cases against him, including over a dozen for murder. “We are closely examining CCTV footage and conducting searches to apprehend the remaining accused,” she said.
Mishra succumbed to his injuries inside the ICU. Police suspect the killing was the result of an old enmity. A case has been registered and the investigation is ongoing.
