Punjab DGP Reviews Security Ahead of Festive Season

AMRITSAR, Sept. 29 — Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) chaired a comprehensive law and order review meeting in Amritsar on Monday with senior officers from the Commissionerate Police and Border Range districts, directing field units to step up vigilance ahead of the festive season.

The meeting brought together senior officials including ADGP (AGTF), ADGP (Counter Intelligence), AIG (SSOC Amritsar), Commissioner of Police Amritsar, DIG Border Range, and the SSPs of Amritsar Rural, Batala, Gurdaspur, Pathankot and Tarn Taran.

According to officials, the review covered ongoing counter-terrorism strategies, efforts to dismantle organised crime networks, and emerging law and order challenges across the border belt. Special focus was placed on proactive policing and intelligence coordination in the run-up to the festive season.

“Officers shared updates on operational preparedness, joint action plans and community engagement measures,” a police statement said.

The DGP directed all field units to maintain high alert, intensify visible policing and ensure seamless coordination to provide citizens with a safe and secure environment during the upcoming festivities.

The Punjab Police reaffirmed its commitment to public safety, stating it remains “fully committed to safeguarding peace, harmony and the well-being of our citizens through professionalism, cooperation and zero tolerance towards crime and terror.”
