Islamabad, Nov 11: At least 12 people were killed and 20 others injured in a suicide bombing outside a court complex in Pakistan’s capital on Tuesday morning, officials and state media reported.

The powerful explosion occurred near the entrance of the court in Islamabad’s G-11 area, causing panic in the vicinity. Rescue officials retrieved 12 bodies from the site, state-run Pakistan Television (PTV) said.

“The bodies of 12 individuals killed in the blast have been transferred to PIMS (Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences) Hospital,” PTV reported on X, adding that 20 injured have been shifted to the hospital’s emergency department.

PTV confirmed that the attack was carried out by a suicide bomber. “The suicide bomber’s head was found lying on the road,” the broadcaster reported.

No group has claimed responsibility for the blast so far. The attack, however, comes just days after the third round of talks between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban ended without an agreement on tackling cross-border terrorism.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the site soon after the explosion and condemned the act. “Those behind this cowardly attack will be brought to justice,” he said, directing security agencies to launch a full investigation.

Security forces have cordoned off the area as forensic teams collect evidence from the scene, and authorities have heightened security across the capital following the attack.
