Lucknow, October 28: Official statistics from the Uttar Pradesh Food and Civil Supplies Department demonstrate a significant leap in paddy procurement, with the current Yogi Adityanath administration benefiting 37,49,219 farmers over the last four years. In comparison, 14,87,519 farmers received procurement benefits during the Samajwadi Party’s entire five-year term. The figures reflect an addition of approximately 22.62 lakh beneficiaries, representing a 2.52-fold increase or a 152 percent growth in reach.

Government procurement serves as a vital institutional mechanism in Uttar Pradesh, guaranteeing agrarian communities direct market access and fair pricing under the Minimum Support Price (MSP) framework. State authorities emphasized that expanding institutional coverage remains a policy priority, ensuring that smallholder and commercial growers receive timely economic protection.

Annual tracking shows robust participation across recent procurement seasons. The state registered 10,95,197 beneficiary farmers in 2022–23, followed by 8,01,730 in 2023–24 and 7,98,731 in 2024–25. The current 2025–26 cycle reached a peak with 10,53,561 farmers participating in state procurement channels.

Departmental officials affirmed ongoing efforts to refine digital registration, reduce payout turnarounds, and enhance transparency at grain reception centers. By streamlining state machinery, the administration aims to sustain broad-based accessibility for eligible agricultural households across all districts.
