Family Seeks Security for Anmol Bishnoi After Deportation

CHANDIGARH, November 19 — The family of gangster Anmol Bishnoi has urged the Union Government to ensure his safety following his deportation from the United States, saying they fear he may be targeted by rival groups in India.

Speaking to reporters, his cousin Ramesh Bishnoi said the family had received indications through “media reports and circulating information” that those aligned with rival gangs could attempt to harm Anmol. “We want explicit protective measures so he isn’t put at risk, whether from gangs or anyone else who may try to target him,” he said.

Ramesh, a paternal cousin of Anmol and his jailed brother Lawrence Bishnoi, also serves as vice-president of the All-India Jeev Raksha Bishnoi Sabha and the national convener of the organisation’s Yuva Morcha wing, which is headed by Lawrence. He noted that the Bishnoi community has traditionally been known for its commitment to protecting wildlife — including black bucks and trees — and that its members “respect the law” despite the criminal allegations around the brothers.

He said the family would abide by whatever verdict the courts eventually deliver in cases tied to Anmol, including the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique and the shooting incident outside actor Salman Khan’s residence. “We will honour any decision the court pronounces,” he said, adding that the family believes a proper investigation will “bring the truth out.”

Ramesh also stated that the family was prepared to cooperate with the authorities. “If the government seeks our support at any stage, we are ready to assist,” he said.
