Hoshiarpur, Dec 20: A young man was allegedly murdered during an attempt to settle a domestic dispute in Mohalla Kamalpur of Hoshiarpur, marking the third killing in the district in as many days and fuelling concerns over law and order.
According to police, Ajay Sandhu had accompanied a woman and her husband to mediate a family matter when a confrontation broke out. The situation quickly spiralled into violence, with Karan Bali, his son Nitin Bali, his wife Meena Bali, and four to five unidentified youths allegedly attacking the group.
Sandhu was reportedly assaulted with sharp-edged weapons and sustained grievous head injuries. He collapsed at the scene and was rushed to the Civil Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Devdutt Sharma said the incident originated from a domestic disagreement. “Ajay Sandhu, along with the accused’s daughter and her husband, had come to resolve the dispute amicably. During the scuffle, Sandhu was attacked with sharp weapons, causing fatal head injuries,” he said.
Police have registered a case and are conducting raids at multiple locations to arrest the accused.
