Abohar, October 12, 2024: Employees at the Giddanwali Toll Plaza on the Abohar-Ganganagar National Highway staged a protest against the management after vacating the plaza demanding to implement the central minimum salary for all toll employees.
The demonstration was organized by the toll plaza workers union, led by Punjab’s state president Darshan Singh Ladi, who arrived with a large convoy.
During the protest, representatives from the toll management held a meeting with Ladi, along with state vice president Sukhjit Singh, state general secretary Rajwant Singh Khalsa, and Mahendra Pal Khuiyan Sarwar, as well as leaders from the farmers’ union. The discussions centered on the employees’ demands.
As a result of the meeting, the toll company agreed to implement the central minimum salary for toll employees and assured that all rights as mandated by law would be upheld.
This agreement was formalized in writing between the Toll Company and the Toll Plaza Workers Union Punjab, according to reports.
GM Santosh of the toll company confirmed that the employees’ demands had been accepted, but stated that they are expected to work in accordance with the company’s instructions moving forward.
