Abohar, March 10: A combined team of the Border Security Force (BSF), CID, and local police seized 6.4 kilograms of heroin near the Indo-Pak border in Sriganganagar on Monday. The recovery occurred in a mustard field situated between Chak 43-44 PS within the Sameja Kothi police station jurisdiction. Officials confirmed that the narcotics were dropped into Indian territory by two separate drones originating from Pakistan.

During the swift overnight operation, authorities apprehended 36-year-old Simarjit Singh, a resident of Bhamba Wattu village in the Jalalabad area of Fazilka. Singh was discovered hiding within the crops, while two of his associates managed to flee the scene using the cover of darkness. The BSF stated that the search was initiated after a local farmer, who was watering his fields around 1:30 a.m., reported hearing a heavy object fall and noticed suspicious movement nearby.

The recovered contraband consisted of eight packets wrapped in yellow plastic and sealed with cellophane tape. Following the arrest, BSF personnel handed the suspect over to the police for further legal proceedings. During preliminary questioning, Singh reportedly disclosed that the group had traveled from Fazilka in a Swift Dzire car to collect the consignment.

Senior BSF and district police officials declared that the investigation is ongoing to trace the network involved. While a massive search operation was conducted across surrounding agricultural lands, no further packages were located. A case has been registered based on a complaint filed by a BSF officer, and authorities affirmed that raids are being conducted at various hideouts to nab the absconding suspects.
