GURUGRAM, MAY 10 — The Gurugram Police registered a First Information Report Saturday after social media influencer Elvish Yadav reported receiving a ₹10 crore ransom demand and death threats. The “Bigg Boss OTT 2” winner stated that the threats, allegedly made in the name of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, were sent via WhatsApp from an international number earlier this week.
Police officials noted that the threatening messages were received by both Yadav and his father, Ram Avtar Yadav, on May 5. The sender reportedly demanded the payment within 48 hours and stated that shots would be fired if the demand was not met. The case, originally filed at the Sector 56 police station, has been transferred to the Crime Branch for an intensive investigation into the origin of the foreign communication.
The authorities are also examining potential links between this threat and a prior attack on August 17, 2025, when unidentified assailants on a motorcycle fired approximately two dozen rounds at Yadav’s residence. Detectives asserted that the investigation will cover all angles to verify the credibility of the gang’s involvement and to identify the individuals behind the international calls.
Gurugram Police affirmed that they are coordinating with technical experts to trace the digital footprint of the messages. This incident follows a series of high-profile extortion attempts against public figures in the region, prompting heightened security concerns for the influencer and his family.
