New Delhi, May 14: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on Thursday that all state government offices will transition to a work-from-home (WFH) model two days per week. The initiative, launched under the ‘Mera Bharat, Mera Yogdan’ plan, follows an appeal by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to conserve energy and fuel amid a global supply crisis. The Chief Minister stated that while the two-day WFH policy is mandatory for government departments, a formal request will also be made to the private sector to adopt similar measures.

As part of the sustainability drive, the Chief Minister confirmed that she, along with all cabinet ministers and senior officers, will utilize the Delhi Metro for their Monday commutes. Additionally, the government is urging citizens to voluntarily observe a “no-vehicle day” once a week to further reduce fuel consumption. “The government has drawn an extensive plan… to implement the appeal by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for saving fuel,” Gupta affirmed during a press conference.

The administration has also implemented strict fiscal and resource constraints, including a 20 percent reduction in petrol and diesel quotas for government officers. Chief Minister Gupta noted that all official foreign visits for ministers are cancelled for the next year, and no large-scale government events will be hosted for three months. Furthermore, the Chief Minister has reduced her own official convoy by 60 percent, now operating with only four vehicles, half of which are electric.
