Patiala, June 17: Senior PCS officer Pooja Syal Grewal officially assumed charge as the Municipal Commissioner of Patiala today, immediately convening a high-level review with civic heads to accelerate key infrastructure projects across the city.
Addressing the administrative heads, including Additional Commissioner Simarpreet Kaur and Joint Commissioner Manreet Rana, the newly appointed commissioner affirmed that public welfare and timely execution of city projects remain the topmost priorities. She noted that Patiala is familiar terrain for her, given her prior administrative tenures in the district as both Sub-Divisional Magistrate and Additional Deputy Commissioner.
The commissioner declared that ongoing public works will move forward smoothly in alignment with the welfare initiatives of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. She maintained that a comprehensive strategy is being deployed to handle vital urban requirements, specifically targeting sewer desilting, modern street lighting infrastructure, efficient garbage collection, and the systematic clearance of legacy waste dump sites to elevate overall city cleanliness.
The civic body plans to execute these urban development goals through close coordination with local representatives and the district administration. The commissioner asserted that collaborative efforts alongside Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh, MLA Ajitpal Singh Kohli, and Mayor Kundan Gogia will ensure all pending public utility projects meet their designated completion deadlines.
Members of the municipal workforce welcomed the incoming commissioner, whose career spans prominent administrative assignments across the state. Her previous tenures include serving as Estate Officer at GMADA, Regional Transport Authority in Mohali, and Additional Deputy Commissioner for Urban Development in Mohali, alongside administrative roles in Rupnagar and Fatehgarh Sahib.
