Amritsar, June 29: A major infrastructure upgrade has been introduced in the holy city of Amritsar to alleviate long-standing traffic bottlenecks, with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann dedicating the newly constructed Sultanwind Bypass flyover to the public on Sunday. The project, which spans the junction of Sultanwind Bypass and Sultanwind Link Road, is designed to provide seamless transit for over two lakh devotees and local residents navigating the city daily.
The Chief Minister asserted that the state exchequer achieved substantial savings of ₹11.52 crore on the project due to the implementation of a highly transparent execution system. While the initial administrative approval stood at ₹34.20 crore, the comprehensive 985-meter-long project was successfully concluded at an actual cost of ₹22.68 crore.
Reflecting on the infrastructure improvements, the Chief Minister said, “To make the journey of devotees more convenient and comfortable, our government is continuously strengthening the city’s infrastructure. Today, we have dedicated the newly constructed flyover at the junction of Sultanwind Bypass and Sultanwind Link Road to the people.”
The administration is incorporating cutting-edge technology into public works, with the Chief Minister sharing that Artificial Intelligence is being utilized to optimize the deployment of taxpayer money across the state. Under new governance guidelines, construction contractors have been made legally responsible for the maintenance of over 43,000 kilometers of roads for a five-year guarantee period.
Detailing the broader developmental goals ahead, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann declared that 3,100 new sports grounds, 3,000 gyms, and 400 new Aam Aadmi Clinics will be fully prepared and opened for public use by July 15. He maintained that expanding local sports culture serves as a key strategy to channel youth energy constructively.
The dedication ceremony was attended by Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO alongside several senior administrative officials and regional dignitaries.
