Chandigarh, June 29: A substantial infrastructure upgrade has been approved for Chandigarh following a major fiscal clearance by local civic planners. The Finance and Contract Committee of the municipal corporation sanctioned 82 distinct development works with a total financial allocation of approximately 20 crore. The approved budget represents one of the most comprehensive single-day development clearances by the urban body in recent years, focusing heavily on neighborhood-level upgrades.

The municipal leadership is moving quickly to transition these sanctioned projects into active field operations. Mayor Saurabh Joshi declared that the civic body is committed to maintaining uniform development speeds across all residential and commercial zones. He affirmed that the administrative priority is to directly elevate the quality of public utilities and neighborhood assets for all local citizens.

“The sanctioned works will significantly improve civic amenities and enhance the quality of life of residents,” Mayor Joshi stated, following the conclusion of the panel session.

The comprehensive plan addresses multiple structural areas, including the reinforcement of stormwater drainage networks in Burail village and extensive internal road repairs in Buterla. Substantial funds have also been allocated for reconstructing pedestrian walkways and redeveloping recreational parks across Sectors 34, 35, 40, 42, and 50. The session, which was attended by Municipal Commissioner Amit Kumar along with senior committee members, also approved dedicated advisory panels to standardize decorative lighting installations and streamline market renovations before upcoming general house reviews.
