Amritsar, June 30: The Punjab Government will give detailed consideration to the suggestions and proposed amendments presented by Sri Akal Takht Sahib to maintain the absolute sanctity of the institution. Following an invitation from the Jathedar Sahib, a delegation of Punjab’s Sikh Cabinet Ministers and MLAs, along with Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan, appeared barefoot at the supreme temporal seat of the Sikhs in Amritsar after paying obeisance at Sri Harmandir Sahib.
The administration affirmed that the formal recommendations would be processed with total humility and reverence. To safeguard the long-standing traditions and decorum of the sacred institution, state representatives refrained from sharing specific internal details of the discussions with the press, choosing instead to focus on the constructive nature of the meeting.
“Sri Akal Takht Sahib is a sacred institution that holds immense reverence in the hearts of the people of Punjab as well as the Punjab Government,” Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan stated after the proceedings. “We have the highest respect for the Jathedar Sahib, this institution, the Sikh Panth and Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Along with Punjab Cabinet Ministers and MLAs, we had a long, meaningful and constructive discussion with the respected Jathedar Sahib.”
The high-level interaction follows a structured timeline granted by the religious leadership to ensure a comprehensive review of the proposed legislative updates. The state leadership maintained that all incoming notes would be treated as top priorities for official evaluation.
Cabinet Minister Harpal Singh Cheema stated that the Jathedar Sahib has officially provided a one-month window for the state government to deliberate on the recommendations. Once the documentation is formally routed through the Vidhan Sabha Speaker’s office, the administration will thoroughly analyze the text to ensure any subsequent decisions align positively with the community’s sentiments.
