Chandigarh, June 30: A major health mobilization campaign has commenced across the Union Territory of Chandigarh following the inauguration of a specialized medical facility designed to optimize public healthcare delivery. The initiative marks the formal launch of the state-level Pulse Polio Campaign, aiming to ensure comprehensive vaccination coverage for young children throughout the region.
The campaign kicked off at the newly established Model Immunization Centre (MIC) located within the Urban Community Health Centre in Sector 22. The modern facility has been developed to streamline the storage, management, and distribution of essential pediatric vaccines while providing a highly comfortable environment for visiting families.
The Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator of UT Chandigarh, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, officially opened the center and administered the initial vaccine doses to children at the venue. “The launch of this state-level campaign and the opening of the Model Immunization Centre represent our commitment to maintaining a polio-free environment and strengthening child healthcare,” regional health administrators asserted during the opening event.
Senior health personnel and administrative officers accompanied the leadership to review the deployment of field teams who will manage the door-to-door distribution phase. The health department has set up numerous temporary booths at key public transport hubs, markets, and residential areas to ensure that no child misses the essential immunization drops during the intensive drive.
