Dehradun, July 4: The Central Government has introduced a direct weekly express train connecting Tanakpur in Uttarakhand to Takht Sri Hazur Sahib Nanded in Maharashtra, eliminating major travel hurdles for regional pilgrims. The inaugural run of the new service is set for July 6.

The launch brings immense relief to the Sikh Sangat situated across the Kumaon-Terai belt, who previously endured exhausting journeys to reach the holy site. The new connectivity ensures a straightforward, comfortable route across states, removing the need for the multiple train switches and extensive road trips that defined the pilgrimage in the past.

Sharing the update, Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu asserted that the decision marks a historic milestone for the Punjabi and Sikh community of the region. He maintained that the welfare project was made possible through the dedicated efforts of the Railway Ministry under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Nanded-Tanakpur Weekly Express is expected to vastly improve inter-state travel efficiency for thousands of spiritual travelers. The Minister stated that the realization of this direct link stands as a testament to respecting and honoring the deep spiritual devotion of the local community.
