Chandigarh, July 11: Over 1 crore voter enumeration forms have been successfully digitised within just 16 days of launching the Special Intensive Revision exercise across Punjab. The sweeping data entry effort marks a significant stride in the state’s ongoing campaign to overhaul and cleanse its electoral lists.

Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Anindita Mitra announced on Saturday that the state machinery has recorded an exceptional distribution rate, with 99.34 percent of all forms already reaching local households. To build on this momentum, the commission has established dedicated weekend camps running from 8 am to 3 pm at all 24,453 polling stations. These strategic hubs are designed to assist residents in immediately correcting registration anomalies, rectifying data linkage errors, and verifying their personal information on the spot.

The logistical undertaking relies heavily on grass-roots coordination across the entire state. An immense field network comprising booth-level officers, regional supervisors, and registration executives has managed to streamline the massive influx of voter documentation across all 117 Assembly segments.

The administrative head praised the sheer dedication of the field staff for maintaining a rapid timeline from distribution to digital entry. Mitra stated that the meticulous tracking and digitisation of these records remains an essential prerequisite for sustaining flawless voter rolls, which directly underpins the integrity of the democratic framework.

The scale of the drive reflects a massive population outreach program operating within a compressed window. Around 24,453 booth-level officers are currently engaged in connecting with more than 2.14 crore registered voters state-wide between June 25 and July 24.

Following the field verification phase, the election department will shift focus toward optimizing polling venue boundaries. Mitra affirmed that the general restructuring of polling stations will wrap up by July 24, paving the way for the preliminary draft roll publication on August 3. Citizens will then have a designated period from August 3 to September 2 to submit any official claims or registry objections, with complete resolution planned by late September ahead of the final publication on October 1.
