New Delhi, July 29: Speaking during the parliamentary debate on the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, Aam Aadmi Party MP Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer maintained that growing youth participation across communities has reshaped the nation’s political landscape. He asserted that student movements and citizen unity have shifted the public focus toward core issues such as education, employment, and institutional accountability.
Addressing the Lok Sabha, the parliamentarian noted that widespread awareness among young citizens has compelled leadership to respond directly to public sentiment. He declared that future electoral discussions will increasingly center on job creation, fair examinations, and educational reforms rather than identity-based politics.
“The youth compelled the Prime Minister to record a selfie video. It is the fear caused by the youth of India—the Prime Minister, who used to shoot with four cameras, was forced by this youth to shoot a selfie video at 12 in the night because he knows the youth have woken up. Now, elections will be contested on education and employment, not on religion,” he said.
Referring to the proposed legislation on examination irregularities, Mr. Hayer observed that merely enhancing punitive measures may not suffice to eliminate paper leaks.
“The administration ought to focus on comprehensive preventive mechanisms and structural safeguards to protect students’ interests effectively,” he said.
The AAP leader cautioned against adopting restrictive digital measures, maintaining that the country should consistently align its trajectory with development-oriented policies. He affirmed that addressing systemic failures and ensuring meaningful accountability remain vital to safeguarding the ambitions of young job seekers across the nation.
