Sunam, August 1: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann dedicated multiple development projects worth over 107 crore rupees to Sunam during the state-level event commemorating the martyrdom day of Shaheed Udham Singh.
Addressing the public gathering at Sunam, Chief Minister Mann affirmed that building the nation envisioned by freedom fighters requires collective effort, quality healthcare, education, and employment opportunities. He stated that the government remains fully committed to fulfilling the aspirations of national martyrs through rapid administrative and social reforms.
“Today is a big day as a state-level function is being organised to commemorate the martyrdom day of Shaheed Udham Singh Ji,” Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann stated. “The Punjab Government has chosen this pious land of Sunam, where Shaheed Udham Singh Ji was born.”
Key infrastructure projects dedicated to the region include:
- Sant Attar Singh Maharaj Armed Forces Preparatory Institute: Being established at Cheema village across 13.42 acres at a cost of 98.68 crore rupees. The facility will provide residential training for 500 cadets with separate hostels for male and female aspirants aiming for careers in the armed forces.
- Trauma Centre: Built at a cost of 5 crore rupees to deliver critical emergency medical services during the crucial golden hour following accidents, equipped with a 10-bed ICU and round-the-clock diagnostic facilities.
- Medicines Warehouse: Set up at 3.68 crore rupees to maintain uninterrupted backup storage and cold-chain supply for essential drugs distributed across government hospitals and clinics.
- Modern Blood Bank: Established with an investment of 42.19 lakh rupees, featuring component separation capabilities and automated screening laboratories.
Chief Minister Mann maintained that welfare programs like free power supply, health coverage under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, and direct monthly financial support for women under the Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna are driving grass-roots transformation across the state. He cautioned citizens to remain vigilant against divisive attempts to disturb social harmony ahead of upcoming elections.
