NEW DELHI, AUGUST 6: Early morning showers swept across Delhi and the National Capital Region on Thursday, bringing down temperatures and prompting the India Meteorological Department to issue a yellow alert for the area.

Key stretches including Rafi Marg, Raisina Road, Firozshah Road, Kautilya Marg, and RK Puram witnessed light to moderate precipitation, leading to overcast conditions and sluggish traffic movement during peak morning commute hours.

“The southwest monsoon remains active across northern India, and atmospheric conditions are supporting continuous intermittent rainfall,” declared an IMD official, noting that isolated regions may experience lightning alongside gusty winds over the coming days.

Civic and weather authorities maintained that residents should stay vigilant while travelling, particularly through low-lying corridors susceptible to waterlogging. The ongoing spell offers temporary relief from intense humidity, with meteorologists predicting persistent cloudy skies and periodic rainfall throughout the week.
