Chandigarh, August 6: The Punjab government has created over 68,000 government positions and enabled more than 6.36 lakh private sector opportunities over the past four and a half years, supported by investment inflows exceeding ₹1.83 lakh crore.
Speaking in the legislative assembly during a discussion on employment, Employment Generation, Skill Development and Commerce Minister Aman Arora stated that the state has successfully established a conducive industrial ecosystem while reducing youth unemployment metrics.
“All government appointments are being issued purely on merit, completely free of recommendations or unfair practices,” affirmed Aman Arora, adding that global industrial majors are expanding their footprint in Punjab due to simplified business processes.
Central data indicates that youth unemployment in the state in the 15 to 29 age group has dropped from 19.1 percent in 2022 to 17 percent in recent evaluations. The government has also expanded budget allocations for skill development and initiated specialized projects, including a ₹100-crore Armed Forces Preparatory Institute in Sangrur district to train youth for officer-level entry.
