Mohali, August 9: Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann distributed government job appointment letters to 866 candidates during a function in Mohali, affirming that merit and dedication remain the sole criteria for selection. The latest distribution brings the total number of government appointments provided over the past four and a half years to 69,094 across various departments.
The Chief Minister declared that the transparent recruitment framework has replaced previous systems where cash and recommendations were often sought for public employment. The new appointments encompass 636 roles in the Health and Family Welfare Department, including 614 Staff Nurses, along with 101 positions in Sugarfed, 57 Junior Auditors in Finance, 51 roles in Defence Services Welfare, 11 in Cooperation, and 10 Law Officers in the Home Department.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister maintained that fair recruitment practices have restored public confidence in governance and helped curb youth migration abroad. He asserted that equal opportunities allow youth from ordinary families to excel in competitive examinations and secure public service roles across the state.
The Chief Minister also declared that state investments in school education have yielded strong results, noting that Punjab now holds top national rankings in educational infrastructure upgrades. He asserted that over 800 government school students cleared the national medical entrance examination this year, demonstrating structural improvements in public schooling.
Concluding his address, the Chief Minister maintained that public servants should use their positions to serve underprivileged communities, urging the new appointees to remain dedicated and humble in their duties.
