Chandigarh, August 9: Punjab Police’s flagship anti-gangster campaign, ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’, reached its 200-day mark following sustained enforcement across the state. Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav stated that the intelligence-led drive aims to eliminate the broader support ecosystem enabling organized crime, including financial networks, logistics, and communication links, ensuring no safe haven exists for criminal elements within or outside the country.
Official figures show that law enforcement teams executed 1,09,087 raids during the 200-day period, resulting in the arrest of 1,532 proclaimed offenders and legal action against more than 58,000 individuals linked to criminal activities. Police personnel seized 990 illegal firearms, 15 hand grenades, 2.5 kg of explosives, over 774 kg of heroin, and cash amounting to more than 1.80 crore rupees to disrupt the operational capability of gangs.
Additional Director General of Police, Anti-Gangster Task Force, Pramod Ban declared that modern criminal networks rely heavily on digital communication and foreign-based handlers. He affirmed that investigations combine field action with financial tracking and coordination with Central agencies, pointing to recent international deportations from Central Asia and Indonesia as key operational successes.
To strengthen public involvement, the Anti-Gangster Task Force launched a confidential tipline alongside a reward policy for credible intelligence. Officials maintained that community participation and anonymous reporting will further support ongoing efforts to maintain public safety across the region.
