LEH, AUGUST 20: United States Ambassador to India Sergio Gor landed in Leh on Thursday to continue his official tour of the region after brief flight delays caused by bad weather in Srinagar. Upon his arrival at Leh Airport, authorities provided high-level security arrangements, escorting the envoy’s convoy as he initiated his itinerary in Ladakh.
Speaking about his diplomatic engagements in the region, the ambassador expressed optimism regarding bilateral relations.
“Gor described the interaction as ‘very good’ and indicated that further discussions would follow in New Delhi and Washington,” officials reported.
Prior to reaching Leh, Ambassador Gor held discussions in Srinagar with Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to discuss various issues of mutual interest. The envoy noted Washington’s intent to strengthen engagement with the area, emphasizing its strategic significance and natural beauty.
This journey represents Ambassador Gor’s first official visit to Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh since taking charge of his posting. Officials stated that the trip forms part of a broader diplomatic effort to deepen understanding and strengthen ties between India and the United States across northern territories.
