Chandigarh: Government employees across Punjab have called off their ongoing pen-down protest after receiving official assurances from the administration regarding the withdrawal of earlier departmental notices. The decision followed discussions with high-ranking state administrative leadership, where employee union representatives were assured that orders labeling previous protest leave as unauthorized would be formally rescinded.
The administrative resolution centered around a letter issued on August 27, which had proposed action against staff participating in mass casual leave. Following assurances from the Chief Secretary that no coercive steps or administrative penalties would be initiated against personnel, employee organizations agreed to end the work stoppage and return to their respective duties.
With daily administrative operations resuming across state offices, representative bodies affirmed their readiness to engage in structured discussions with state leadership. Officials maintained that maintaining functional public administration and addressing staff grievances through open dialogue remain the shared priorities of the government and its workforce.
