Chandigarh: Senior Aam Aadmi Party leaders condemned the Bharatiya Janata Party following reports that local residents prevented a BJP delegation from entering Toor Banjara village in Sangrur. AAP Punjab Prabhari Manish Sisodia stated that the incident exposed the opposition party’s attempt to engage in politics over the death of Gulzar Singh, a resident belonging to a poor Dalit family.
Taking to social media platform X, Sisodia stated that local residents confronted Punjab BJP President Kewal Singh Dhillon, raising slogans and preventing his entry into the village. Sisodia affirmed that the public response served as a direct rejection of attempts to utilize family tragedy for political mileage.
Adding to the criticism, Cabinet Minister Dr Balbir Singh maintained that BJP leaders reached the location without showing proper regard for the grieving family. He asserted that the public quickly saw through the opposition’s political intentions and sent the delegation back.
Dr Balbir Singh named senior leaders including Kewal Dhillon, Ashwani Sharma, Sunil Jakhar, and Manpreet Badal, stating that the people of Punjab will not accept political opportunism during moments of personal loss. He affirmed that the electorate rejects any attempt to transform a family’s grief into a public spectacle.
