Chandigarh: Aam Aadmi Party Punjab State General Secretary Baltej Pannu delivered a sharp rebuke to the BJP after party leaders were reportedly turned away by villagers in Toor Banjara, Sangrur. Reacting to the development, Pannu maintained that the public reaction serves as a clear rejection of divisive electoral tactics, affirming that Punjab’s social fabric cannot be polarized for political gains.
Pannu stated that while Punjab’s soil is inherently fertile, crops of hatred, caste, and religious division will never grow here. He remarked that after earlier giving a similar message to the Congress, the people of the state have now delivered a firm response to the BJP as well.
The AAP leader accused the BJP of attempting to import its Haryana-style caste politics into Punjab. He affirmed that the strategy of pitting communities against each other failed to gain traction among Punjabis, who consistently prioritize communal harmony and collective welfare over narrow political identities.
Warning the Shiromani Akali Dal, Congress, and BJP to read the writing on the wall, Pannu emphasized that AAP focuses strictly on the governance model of schools and hospitals. He concluded that the state’s electorate demands developmental progress rather than divisive, identity-driven campaigns.
