NEW DELHI, Sept 26 — Three key partners of the ruling National Democratic Alliance called upon the Election Commission to issue a definitive statement addressing recent debates regarding internal discussions and procedural integrity.
Leaders from the Telugu Desam Party, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), and Rashtriya Lok Manch maintained that clear institutional communication remains crucial following media reports concerning the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
Lok Janshakti Party (RV) leader Chirag Paswan affirmed that maintaining public trust in constitutional institutions forms the backbone of democratic governance. “If people start losing faith in the electoral system, it is not good and does not augur well for our democracy. So, I believe that the EC must publish a clarification more forcefully,” he stated, adding that the goal should be dispelling public doubts rather than engaging in political polemics.
Echoing similar concerns, Rashtriya Lok Manch chief Upendra Kushwaha declared that public ambiguity around electoral processes requires swift administrative addressal. “A great deal of confusion has arisen among the public regarding the controversy related to EVMs. The matter needs to be addressed. To dispel the confusion, the Election Commission should immediately issue a clarification on the correct position,” he maintained.
Representing the Telugu Desam Party, MP Lavu Srikrishna Devarayalu noted that the roll revision exercise achieved its objectives in Andhra Pradesh, asserting that proactive clarification by the poll panel will further reinforce democratic confidence.
