Ludhiana, Sept 28: Ludhiana police achieved a major breakthrough on Sunday evening after safely rescuing a four-month-old infant within five hours of his reported kidnapping from the Haibowal area.
The child, identified as Aryan, was taken around 6:00 PM from New Chandra Nagar while accompanied by a relative. According to police statements, two masked individuals approached under the pretext that the child’s father, Alok Kumar, had called for the infant, before snatching the child and fleeing the scene. Haibowal police immediately registered a case and deployed multi-pronged search units utilizing technical tools, scientific tracking, and local intelligence under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police (City) Alam Vijay Singh.
Subsequent raids led police teams to a rented accommodation in Jalandhar, where officers safely recovered the infant and apprehended two suspects. The arrested individuals were identified as the child’s paternal aunt and her male associate. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly planned to sell the infant to prospective buyers.
DCP Alam Vijay Singh personally handed the infant back to his father and affirmed that a comprehensive inquiry will continue to identify all potential buyers or co-conspirators involved in the trafficking plot.
