NEW DELHI, OCT 1: Aviation turbine fuel rates for domestic carriers surged to Rs 137 per litre from Rs 121 starting Thursday, as state-owned oil corporations adjusted prices in line with global energy market trends. The revision marks a sharp increase of Rs 16 per litre, following prior upward adjustments of Rs 6.28 per litre in September and Rs 5 per litre in August. Fuel expenses constitute up to 40 per cent of total operational expenditures for airlines, rendering rate movements significant for aviation operations.
In tandem with aviation fuel updates, commercial LPG prices were adjusted upward by Rs 62.50 per 19-kg cylinder. The move follows a minor adjustment of Rs 9.50 in September and significant reductions totaling over Rs 375 across July and August. Rates for commercial cooking gas previously touched a high of Rs 3,113.50 in June before undergoing stabilization.
Monthly price adjustments for jet fuel and LPG take effect on the first of every month, reflecting movements in international benchmarks alongside fluctuations in the rupee-dollar exchange rate. Final consumer rates vary across states owing to local tax structures such as Value Added Tax.
Meanwhile, retail prices for domestic household LPG remain steady at Rs 942 per 14.2-kg cylinder. Rates for petrol and diesel also continue without change following their previous adjustment in May.
