Mumbai, Oct 4: Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt has issued a clarification regarding his recent alleged controversial comments, stating that his remarks about not feeling peace in the country were part of a scripted talk show segment and were never intended to cause offense.
Addressing the backlash that followed his appearance on the talk show Shekhar Tonite, the actor explained that the discussion was conducted in a light-hearted spirit. He affirmed that his words were meant to reflect a humorous tone, similar to the satire featured in his popular Munna Bhai films. Dutt declared that his primary intention was to promote goodwill, love, and togetherness through the lens of ‘Gandhigiri’, expressing regret that his comments were interpreted outside of their original context.
During the show, hosted by Shekhar Suman, the veteran actor adopted his famous screen persona to discuss hypothetical administrative changes if he were to hold public office. He maintained that he would prioritize stay-at-home governance, foster communal harmony, and feature images of Mahatma Gandhi across public spaces instead of his own portrait. Dutt reiterated that he holds immense respect for the country and its citizens, emphasizing that the segment was purely satirical and meant for entertainment.
