Chandigarh, Oct 5: The state government is preparing to convene the upcoming winter session of the Vidhan Sabha from October 23 to October 27, with agricultural discussions and policy issues expected to take center stage.
Official sources indicated that the Cabinet will consider the scheduling proposal, which includes recess days on October 24 and 25. The session follows commitments made by state representatives during recent discussions with farmer organizations regarding their core demands. Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian had previously assured union leaders during their September demonstrations that their primary concerns would receive full consideration on the legislative floor.
Among the key subjects scheduled for deliberation, assembly members are anticipated to discuss matters concerning existing water agreements and the legislative framework governing river resources. Additionally, resolutions regarding national agricultural guidelines, including the Dam Safety Act and proposed seed regulations, may be taken up for detailed evaluation. Official representatives maintained that the final schedule and formal agenda will be finalized following official Cabinet proceedings.
