Kyiv / Moscow, October 27:Russia and Ukraine entered a localised ceasefire around the Russian-occupied town of Oleshky in southern Ukraine on Tuesday, aiming to deliver urgent relief and facilitate civilian evacuations.
The temporary halt in hostilities addresses acute shortages of food, water, and essential medicines facing residents in the frontline town located on the eastern bank of the Dnipro River. Ukrainian Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets confirmed the implementation, affirming that Ukrainian forces are honoring their commitments. Meanwhile, Russia’s Ministry of Defense announced on Telegram that it suspended shelling from 4:00 a.m. Moscow time toward nearby Kherson to prepare aid corridors.
Despite the localized agreement in the Kherson region, broader military engagements persist across other sectors, with missile strikes and explosions reported in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv.
