Chandigarh, October 27: Advocate Asmi scripted national history on Tuesday after being elected unopposed as a member of the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana. At just 23 years old, she becomes the youngest-ever member of a State Bar Council in India and the first representative from Generation Z to hold a seat on any State Bar Council across the country.

Returning Officer Pardeep Parmar officially declared the result following the expiration of the nomination window on Monday, October 26. Asmi had filed her candidacy to fill the casual vacancy created when former council member Minderjeet Yadav was elevated as a judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. With no other nominations received by the closing deadline, she was declared elected without contest.

Key legal figures gathered to extend their congratulations on her landmark election, including Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana Chairman Amit Rana, Vice-Chairman Sharmila Sharma, Bar Council of India Member Karnajit Singh, former office-bearers, and senior state advocates.
