LUDHIANA, Oct 29 — Police have launched a manhunt following a murderous attempt on the life of property dealer Jagjit Singh near Dholewal, where a group of eight armed men unleashed indiscriminate firing on his vehicle. The violent clash occurred while the victim was accompanying his elderly mother and young child back home after dinner.
Police sources noted that the assailants fired multiple rounds directly targeting the car windows before physically assaulting Jagjit Singh using a pistol butt and sharp weapons. Despite suffering critical facial and head wounds, the victim displayed notable bravery by driving the vehicle out of the attackers’ range to reach the local Civil Hospital for emergency medical care.
Recounting the ordeal, the victim noted that the unexpected firing began just as his child entered the automobile. Assailants rapidly enclosed the vehicle, smashing window panels and inflicting injuries before Jagjit Singh managed to accelerate away from the scene to protect his family.
Senior police officials confirmed that an active investigation is underway to establish the motive behind the targeted assault. Law enforcement contingents asserted that key leads are being followed up across the district to identify and arrest the suspects involved in the crime.
