New Delhi, 30 Dec. 24: Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal pledged on Monday that if the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) wins re-election in the upcoming Delhi Assembly polls, it will introduce the ‘Pujari Granthi Samman Yojana.’ The scheme promises a monthly honorarium of Rs 18,000 for Hindu temple priests and granthis serving at gurdwaras.

Speaking at a press conference, Kejriwal shared details about the program, stating, “The ‘Pujari Granthi Samman Yojana’ is aimed at offering financial support to priests and granthis who often go unnoticed. For the first time in the country, we are launching this scheme, ensuring they receive Rs 18,000 per month.”

The announcement comes as the AAP prepares for its bid to maintain control of Delhi for a fourth consecutive term. Kejriwal emphasized the critical role that priests and granthis play in society, calling them “an important part of our society, but they are often a neglected lot.”

He added that the scheme would kick off with the registration process, starting Tuesday. “I will visit the Hanuman temple in Connaught Place tomorrow to oversee the registration process for priests,” said Kejriwal.

With the Delhi Assembly elections on the horizon, the announcement reflects AAP’s ongoing efforts to secure voter support by extending welfare programs to various groups within the state.
