Chandigarh, 5 January 2025: The Directorate of School Education has suspended physical classes for students up to Class 8 in government, aided, and private schools until January 11 due to the prevailing cold wave. Online classes are permitted and can be conducted starting from 9 a.m.
For students of Classes 9 to 12, schools are allowed to operate but must begin no earlier than 9:30 a.m. and close by 3:30 p.m. Exceptions are in place for pre-board examinations, allowing schools to commence at 9 a.m. if necessary. “The timing for teachers can also be adjusted to align with pre-board requirements,” an official from the education department stated.
The decision aims to ensure students’ well-being while accommodating the ongoing academic schedule, particularly for senior students preparing for exams.
