Sri Muktsar Sahib, 12 January 2025: Muktsar Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Tripathi apprehended two drug peddlers at a rickshaw stand near District Red Cross Park on Kotkapura Road on Sunday, recovering banned pills, capsules, and poppy husk, according to media reports.
Tripathi revealed he had visited the rickshaw stand ahead of a planned ‘langar’ for the upcoming Maghi Mela.
“Two people were lying there under blankets. Upon seeing me, some women fled the spot. Acting on prior information about drug peddling in the area, I frisked the individuals and discovered contraband,” he stated.
The seized items have been handed over to the police, with Tripathi requesting the Senior Superintendent of Police to initiate legal proceedings.
Additionally, the DC issued a stern warning to police personnel patrolling the site, cautioning them to remain vigilant or face potential action.
