Pragyaraj, 5 February 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam on Wednesday, describing the experience as a “moment of divine connection” during the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj.

Holding ‘rudraksh’ beads, Modi, dressed in a deep orange jersey and blue lowers, offered prayers to the sun and the Ganga amid Vedic chants.

“Blessed to be at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. The Snan at the Sangam is a moment of divine connection, and like the crores of others who have taken part in it, I was also filled with a spirit of devotion,” he posted on X, adding, “May Maa Ganga bless all with peace, wisdom, good health and harmony.”

Modi reached the Triveni Sangam, where the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati meet, by boat from Arail ghat.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath accompanied him. Along the route, he acknowledged the crowds gathered along the riverbanks.

After the ritual bath, the prime minister performed an ‘aarti’ on a specially built floating platform. For this, he changed into a black jacket, white pyjamas, a saffron stole, and a Himachali cap. He offered milk, flowers, and a saree at the confluence, with a priest guiding him through the rituals.

Security was heightened for the visit, coinciding with assembly elections in Delhi and bypolls in Milkipur, Uttar Pradesh. However, except for areas restricted due to security protocols, devotees continued their ritual dips, officials said.

The Maha Kumbh, held every 12 years, began on January 13 and will continue until February 26. According to the Uttar Pradesh government, over 38 crore pilgrims have visited since the event started.
