Chandigarh, March 4 — Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, addressing the ongoing standoff between the state government and striking revenue officials, said Tuesday that corruption within the department would not be tolerated.

“We cannot give license to revenue officials for corruption,” Mann stated while inspecting the Kharar tehsil office. He later visited the Banur tehsil office and was scheduled to reach Fatehgarh Sahib.

At Kharar, he reviewed office operations and said three SDMs, two kanungos, and two senior assistants had been assigned powers to ensure public services remained unaffected. “We will hire more officials. Let them go on leave,” he told visitors outside the office.

Ahead of his visit, Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal and DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar arrived at the tehsil office. Administrative officials confirmed that all revenue department staff in Mohali had resumed work before the CM’s arrival.

Revenue officials have been on an indefinite strike, protesting Vigilance Bureau action against three colleagues in Ludhiana.
