BENGALURU | May 20, 2025 — A Special Court for Economic Offences on Tuesday granted default bail to Kannada actress Ranya Rao and Tarun Konduru Raju, both accused in a high-profile gold smuggling case.
The court ruled that the duo were entitled to statutory bail, ordering their release upon furnishing a personal bond of ₹2 lakh each, along with two sureties of the same amount.
While allowing the bail, the court imposed a series of stringent conditions. The accused must appear before the court on all scheduled hearing dates without fail, extend full cooperation to the investigation, and refrain from tampering with evidence or influencing witnesses in any manner.
In addition, both Rao and Raju have been barred from leaving the country without prior permission from the court. They were also directed not to engage in any similar offences while on bail.
The judge issued a clear warning that any violation of these conditions would result in the immediate revocation of bail.
The gold smuggling case has drawn significant attention in recent weeks, with investigators probing alleged connections to an international smuggling ring. The investigation remains ongoing.
