AHMEDABAD | May 20, 2025 — Ahmedabad has been selected to host the Indian Premier League final on June 3, along with Qualifier 2, while Mullanpur will likely stage the first two playoff matches later this month.
The changes come amid rescheduling prompted by the India-Pakistan military conflict, which paused the tournament for a week, and concerns over the onset of the monsoon season.
A senior BCCI official confirmed that Mullanpur and Ahmedabad have been finalised as the two playoff venues. Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator are scheduled for May 29 and 30 in Mullanpur, while Ahmedabad will host Qualifier 2 and the final on June 1 and 3.
Originally, Hyderabad and Kolkata were due to host the playoffs, but security and weather considerations led to the shift. Ahmedabad has previously hosted the IPL finals in 2022 and 2023.
The BCCI has also moved the May 23 fixture between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and SunRisers Hyderabad from Bengaluru to Lucknow, after the last match at the Chinnaswamy Stadium was washed out.
Officials said the revised plan takes into account both logistical constraints and the likelihood of rain affecting northern and coastal venues in the last week of May.
