Air India Pilot’s Death: Boyfriend Released on Bail

Mumbai, 27 December 2024: Aditya Pandit, boyfriend of Air India pilot Srishti Tuli, who allegedly died by suicide in November, was granted bail on Friday by a Dindoshi court.

Tuli, 25, was found dead in the early hours of November 25 in her rented apartment at the ‘Kanakia Rain Forest’ building in Marol. A day after her death, police arrested Pandit and charged him under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Section 108 for abetment of suicide.

The complaint was filed by Tuli’s father, who alleged that tensions between the couple contributed to her death. According to him, the two had lived together in her flat for five or six days before Pandit left for Delhi on the day of the incident.

One of the primary issues in their relationship was a disagreement over food habits, the complaint claimed. Tuli was a non-vegetarian, while Pandit was a vegetarian who, the complainant alleged, pressured her to change her eating preferences.

However, Pandit’s lawyer, Aniket Nikam, argued in court that the charges were baseless. “Fights between the two do not prove criminal intent,” Nikam stated, underlining that for a charge of abetment, there must be clear evidence showing that the deceased was left with no other option but to end their life.

In his bail plea, Pandit recounted his concern for Tuli, mentioning he had called her repeatedly while traveling to Delhi. When she didn’t respond, he rushed back to Mumbai, only to find her apartment door locked from the inside.

Additional Sessions Judge T.T. Aglawe granted Pandit bail, but the detailed order remains pending.
