Chandigarh, March 19 — Leader of the Opposition in Punjab, Partap Singh Bajwa accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of betraying farmers by detaining them after their meeting with the central government.
He alleged that the BJP and AAP are “two faces of the same coin,” claiming that while the Centre held talks with farmers, the Punjab government detained them at the Chandigarh-Mohali border upon their return.
“AAP’s hypocrisy has been exposed. On one hand, they call farmers for talks in Chandigarh, and on the other, they detain them at the border. This proves that both AAP and BJP are working hand in glove,” Bajwa said.
Condemning the government’s actions, Bajwa asserted that Punjabis are not fake and would not tolerate deceit.
“We are real people. We don’t stab others in the back,” he said, criticizing the government’s alleged double standards.
The farmers, who had attended the meeting with central ministers in Chandigarh regarding their demands, were reportedly stopped and detained by the Punjab Police at the Chandigarh-Mohali border, drawing sharp criticism from the opposition.
Bajwa further demanded that the state government immediately release the detained farmers and stop treating them as criminals.
