Chandigarh, 18 November 2024: Anmol Bishnoi, the younger sibling of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, was apprehended in California, U.S., sources confirmed Monday evening. Anmol Bishnoi, a fugitive linked to several high-profile cases, faces charges in the 2022 murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala and the gunfire incident outside actor Salman Khan’s residence in Mumbai earlier this year.
Bishnoi is also implicated in the October killing of former Maharashtra minister and NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) leader Baba Siddique. “We had received credible information about his involvement in the recent cases, and his arrest marks a significant development,” said an official from Mumbai Police’s Crime Branch.
Authorities in Mumbai had already initiated the extradition process to bring Bishnoi back from the United States. Earlier this month, a special court in Maharashtra issued a non-bailable warrant for his arrest. Additionally, Interpol had issued a Red Corner Notice against him as global law enforcement agencies worked together to locate the fugitive.
Initially believed to be hiding in Canada, Bishnoi had been added to the National Investigation Agency’s most-wanted list last month. The agency, which handles cases related to terrorism, announced a ₹10 lakh reward for information leading to his arrest. The investigation continues as Indian authorities prepare for his extradition to face charges.
