New Delhi, August 11: Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal launched a direct political attack on the BJP leadership, questioning whether top central officials coordinated a campaign to circulate misleading footage regarding substance abuse.
The statement followed controversy surrounding a social media video shared by BJP MP Harbhajan Singh, who lamented that governments have ruined Punjab and its Punjabi youth, asserting that a once brave state had become besieged by addictions. Arvind Kejriwal quickly countered the narrative on X, asking, “Many BJP people spread this lie together yesterday. Did the order come from the PMO? Does the PMO spread lies in the country?” The ruling party chief maintained that opposition leaders were systematically deploying fabricated media to unfairly target the region.
State authorities swiftly stepped in to clarify the actual origin of the viral visual media, confirming that the recording had no link to local jurisdictions. Punjab Police declared that the clip was recorded in Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan, adding that a Punjabi audio track does not make an incident a Punjab incident. Law enforcement officials affirmed that the events depicted carried zero connection to state personnel or territory, urging public figures to verify factual information before posting online. Regional leaders asserted that using unverified footage to slander the administration undermines actual public health efforts, declaring that deceptive messaging will be firmly called out.
