Mumbai, 10 December 2024: A speeding government bus caused devastation in Mumbai’s Kurla area late Monday night, killing six people and injuring 49 others.
The incident occurred around 9:50 PM near Anjuman-e-Islam School on SG Barve Road, where the bus plowed through a densely populated area, crushing pedestrians and smashing into 30-40 vehicles over a 100-meter stretch.
The chaos ended when the bus collided with a building column, causing a boundary wall to collapse. Panic ensued as residents fled in fear, creating a stampede-like situation.
Emergency responders, including police and fire brigade teams, rushed to the scene. Ambulances and private vehicles transported the injured to Kurla Bhabha Hospital. Doctors confirmed six fatalities and reported that several of the injured remain in critical condition.
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the crash, as authorities work to ensure the injured receive timely care.
