Gurdaspur, December 1, 2024 — A high-speed bus traveling from Kalanur to Gurdaspur lost control and crashed into the Mangalsain Bridge, injuring 3-4 passengers. The injured, all from the village of Bahadurpur, were immediately taken to the Civil Hospital in Gurdaspur by police and local bystanders.
According to the police officer who arrived at the scene, the accident occurred after the bus, which was reportedly speeding, hit the divider of the bridge. “We received information from the control room about the accident. Upon arriving, we found that the bus had climbed the divider. Local witnesses confirmed that the driver had been driving at high speed,” the officer said.
The driver of the bus fled the scene following the incident. However, the police have taken the bus into custody and are conducting further investigations. Authorities are now searching for the driver, and legal action is expected to follow.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but the incident has raised concerns about the need for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations to prevent such accidents.
