New Delhi, May 13: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested five individuals on Wednesday as part of an expanding probe into the alleged leakage of the NEET-UG examination paper. Officials stated that the arrests took place across several states, with three suspects detained in Jaipur, one in Gurugram, and one in Nashik.
The agency affirmed that it is currently conducting searches at multiple locations nationwide to uncover the full extent of the conspiracy. Among those taken into custody is 30-year-old Shubham Khairnar, who was apprehended in Nashik following a request from the Rajasthan Police. A local magistrate granted transit remand to allow the CBI to bring Khairnar to Delhi for further interrogation.
“The CBI is pursuing all leads relating to the alleged paper leak through extensive technical and forensic analysis,” an official declared. The agency maintained that it is committed to an impartial and professional investigation. Investigators have already seized digital evidence, including laptops and mobile phones, which will undergo forensic examination to identify communication channels used to distribute the illicit materials.
The CBI also visited the National Testing Agency (NTA) headquarters today to secure documents pertaining to the May 3 examination. Officials noted that the agency is coordinating closely with the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Rajasthan, which handled the preliminary inquiry. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities indicated that more arrests may follow as questioning continues in various cities.
