Centre Approves ₹1,255.59 Crore North Patiala Bypass Project

Chandigarh, October 18, 2024: The Central Government has officially approved the long-awaited North Patiala Bypass Project in Patiala, bringing a major infrastructure development to the region. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari made the announcement via a post on X, confirming the green light for this essential project.

“An amount of ₹1,255.59 crore has been sanctioned for the construction of a 28.9 km four-lane access-controlled North Patiala Bypass in Punjab,” Gadkari revealed in his post.

“This new bypass will complete the ring road around Patiala, significantly easing the traffic congestion in the city,” he added.

The bypass is expected to bring multiple benefits, including easing the traffic burden within Patiala city and enhancing regional connectivity. With improved access, the movement of goods and logistics will become more streamlined, giving a considerable boost to the local economy and infrastructure. The project aligns with the government’s larger vision of facilitating efficient transportation networks across key regions.

Former Punjab Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Captain Amarinder Singh also expressed his gratitude following the announcement. Sharing the news on X, he stated, “I extend my heartfelt thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for approving the much-anticipated ₹1,255.59 crore North Patiala Bypass project. This will be a game changer for Patiala.”

The bypass, once completed, will be a key part of Patiala’s overall road infrastructure, reducing travel time, enhancing safety, and contributing to the economic upliftment of the region. This approval marks a major milestone for Patiala’s development and promises to make the city more accessible and efficient for both residents and businesses alike.
